Day 1: Arrive Gabon

Welcome to Gabon! Upon arrival at the Libreville International Airport, you will meet your main guide. After greetings, you will be transfered at Tropicana Hotel which is a pretty nice and famous place alongside Libreville beaches, where you can rest before starting out on your exciting trip around Gabon.

Day 2 : Nyonié Rainforest - 4WD Safari

Accommodation :

After breakfast, take a boat game drive on the estuary of the Komo river and the chain of mangroves following by a 4WD game drive to Nyonié camp, a small seaside safari camp near the village of Nyonie owned and operated by a French ex-pat.
In the afternoon, head out for a game drive in Nyonie forest. Here, wildlife sightings can include elephants, buffalo, monkeys, parrots, hornbills, chimpanzee, mandrill, western lowland gorilla, eopard,  numerous antelope species, as well as a huge number of bird species.

Day 3 : Bushwalk in Nyonié Rainforest

Activities : Wildlife Viewing, Bushwalk, River Cruise, Village Visit.

Wake up at 5 am and take an early morning walk to go to meet the rainforest who is waking up then return to camp in time for breakfast. Meanwhile, you can just rest at the beautiful beach, which you have all for yourself, since the place is really wild and empty. Transfer at the train station later this afternoon for an overnight in first class in the train.

Day 4 : Poubara Waterfalls and Bridge of Liana

This morning, after an early breakfast in the train, you will have time to rest at your hotel and take in the beauty of the landscapes of Franceville before embarking on an afternoon walk to waterfalls and the liana bridge in the Poubara forest.

Built from 2,400 creepers, the Poubara liana bridge, inaugurated in 1915, is 52 meters long and is regularly rebuilt every year for safety reasons. It is the symbol of entered the small forest of Poubara which surrounds the famous Poubara falls and allows to see, below the falls, impressive rapids.

Day 5, 6 and 7 : Batéké Plateaux NP - Safaris & Treks

Batéké Plateaux National Park is located between forest and savannah in the southeastern Gabon. It was added onto the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List on October 20, 2005, due to its purported universal cultural and natural significance. The wildlife here is rich and includes the only young male lion captured on camera traps in 2015, chimpanzee, mandrill, leopard, hyena, elephant, giant pangolin, western lowland gorilla and numerous antelope species, as well as a huge number of bird species.

After an early morning breakfast, drive through a beautiful landscape from Franceville to Batéké Plateaux National Park and on wards to Leconi Red Canyon. The journey is going to be fascinating, with many small villages located along the way. And there are rivers to cross, gallery forests, marshy areas, savannahs and rainforests to pass through until reaching the access point of the Batéké Plateaux National Park.

Then head out for a three hours boat game drive on the M’Passa river to our main camp in the savanna. This guided boat safari along the M’Passa river is one of the best ways to view forest animals such as the forest elephant, forest buffalo, western lowland gorillas, monkeys , sitatunga and the reclusive Grimm’s Duiker, locally known as the Ntsa. During these trips, you will often see some of the species of birds that are found in Batéké Plateaux National Park.

Upon arrival at our main savanna camp. Take a moment to appreciate the breathtaking savanna that surrounds the camp. Then check-in, have lunch and get ready to head back out for your next two full days game drive and bushwalk to explore the park.

Day 8 : Exploration of Lékédi Park

Accommodation :

Activities : Wildlife Viewing, 4WD Safari, Bushwalk, Hiking, Mandrills Tracking, Village Visit.


Arise early for breakfast, drive 1:30 to Lekidi Park before joining your safari vehicle for a three hours game drive through the park. Keep an eye out for Lekedi's resident wildlife, including buffalo, gorillas,  chimpanzees, sitatungas, guibs, leopard, many species of small monkeys and birds, as well as a famous gang of wild mandrills. Since some of the mandrills have been fitted with radio collars, tracking them becomes an easier task, increasing the possibility of seeing a troop. Then visit a spectacular iron bridge, 30 meters high and 360 meters long overlooking the canopy where a colony of chimpanzees lives.

After your game viewing in Lekedi Park, come back to the hotel for lunch and relax a little bit before your transfer at the train station in late afternoon. Dinner and overnight in first class in the train.

Day 9 : Lopé National Park - Mandrills Tracking

After breakfast, head out for a full day game drive in Lopé National Park, a world heritage site, the park is the only place in the world that offers visitors a likely chance to view the enormous troops of hundreds of mandrills up close and personal. The largest group of primates ever recorded is a troop of 1,350 mandrills sighted in the park. Since some of the mandrills in Lopé National Park have been fitted with radio collars, tracking them becomes an easier task, increasing the possibility of seeing a troop.

Day 10 and 11 : Lopé National Park - Gorilla Tracking

Activities : Wildlife Viewing, Bushwalk, Hiking, Gorilla Tracking. Swimming in freshwater.


After an early breakfast and briefing at your hotel, we drive off to Mikongo rainforest in Lopé National Park where we’ll spend the next two days. The journey is exciting with beautiful views to see, the vehicle can be stopped at any time to take good pictures. Up on arrival in Mikongo bush camp, set off for the western lowland gorilla tracking inside the Mikongo rainforest.

Enjoy gorilla tracking the highlight of the trip, which may last the entire day. We trek the gorillas through the rainforest guided by experienced trackers. The walking can sometimes be tough and long, but when you catch a glimpse of the magnificent silverback, any discomforts will be quickly forgotten. When the gorillas are sighted, visitors will be guided to within 6 metres from the gorillas. For conservation purposes, time spent with the gorillas is limited to one hour.

Gorilla trekking is unpredictable. It's difficult to foresee how many hours you will hike. The gorilla excursion can take from 1 up to 4 hours. Expect to walk along distance in steep and muddy conditions, sometimes with rain overhead, before you encounter any gorillas. A good physical condition is recommended.
After tracking on day 11, come back to the hotel and relax. Take a sleep while waiting the night train at middle night for your transfer to Lambaréné.

Day 12 : Albert Schweitzer Hospital, Lambaréné

This morning, the train drops you off in Ndjole then we drive to Lambarene a small town located on the south of the equator and lying on both side of the Ogooué River. The city is known world-wide because of Albert Schweitzer (Nobel Peace prize winner) and his hospital which is still a major attraction. The hospital was built in 1913 and still Supported by volunteers from around the world, this remarkable institution is run by a non-profit foundation. The small museum preserves its founder's lodgings, as well as some of his simple possessions.

Day 13, 14 : Tsam Tsam, Lake Oguemoué

Today you leave behind  “La ville du grand blanc” which is the nickname of Lambarene town and refered to Dr Albert Schweitzer. Then travel down on the Ogooué river and through the jungle of its southern chain of lakes to Tsam Tsam, an ecotouristic site on Lake Oguemoue where you’ll spend the next two nights on lake-side platforms with large tents and spectacular views.

Here, you’ll embark on hikes in the forest with local guides to identify animal signs and learn about local plant uses. The surrounding forests are home to lowland gorillas, forest elephants, chimpanzees, red river hogs, sitatungas, forest buffalo, red-capped.

The project was created by OELO, a Gabonese non-profit NGO run by local residents who wish to protect wildlife while creating jobs. 100% Of proceeds stay within local communities and fund environmental conservation in this area.

Day 15 : Tsam Tsam, Lake Oguemoué to Libreville

Accommodation :

Activities : Wildlife Viewing, Canoeing,  River Cruise, Swimming in Fresh Water, Fishing(Optional), Village Visit.

After an early breakfast, take a guided walk through the local village, and learn about community life by visiting the homes of OELO members. Also take a tour of a local plantation or an early morning checking of fishing nets with fishermen.
Head back out to Lambarene by canoe ride following by a car ride to Libreville. Overnight in Tropicana Hotel.

Day 16: Depart Gabon

Say goodbye to Gabon, but before we’ll spend a final couple of hours relaxing on the white sand beach of Pongara National Park. End your trip with a drop off back at the Libreville International Airport in time for your flight home.
